Yefim Bronfman has nothing if not a full-blooded commitment to the music of Bela Bartok. His recording of the three concertos on Sony has been acclaimed for its percussive drive, and an interval photo taken after a more recent performance of the Third graphically showed, with blood-stained keyboard, how Bronfman had suffered for his art. In this Orchestre de Paris concert he played the First and most confrontational of the concertos.
