In his fourth and last appearance at the 2010 Tanglewood Festival, Christoph von Dohnányi accompanied the young German violinist Arabella Steinbacher in the Everest of violin concertos, by Beethoven; which she followed with the far from insubstantial encore of the chaconne written by Bach in memory of his first wife Maria Barbara, who had died in Cöthen while he was away on duty for his aristocratic master.
