Christoph von Dohnányi returned for a celebrated concert to the Sinfonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, almost 30 years after his debut, and so far only concert with the orchestra. According to critics,'Dohnányi appears to be rather form the current generation, trying to bring emotional and intellectual penetration together under one roof.' As often in his programs, Dohnányi chose to combine the popular with the unknown, in this case Tchaikovsky's Pathetique with Ligeti's Double Concerto for flute and oboe, of which Dohnányi has conducted the world premiere at the 1972 Berlin Festival.
