- Programme:
- Bartók: Music for Strings, Percussion and Celesta | Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5 | Beethoven: Symphony No. 4
Before embarking on a four-concert tour of Switzerland, Christoph von Dohnányi and the Philharmonia Orchestra were joined by the violinist Sarah Chang, who by the ripe age of 20 had matured into a violinist of serious consideration with almost a decade of international concerts and recordings already behind her. On this occasion she played the last of the concertos which the teenage Mozart had written for himself to impress the Parisian public, with a fashionable ‘Turkish’ percussion interlude in the finale.
