Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Hall, April 13, 1998
- Programme:
- Strauss R: Till Eulenspiegel
The Chief Executive of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Kenneth Haas, had previously held the same post at the Cleveland Orchestra during Christoph von Dohnányi’s first five years of tenure as Music Director. When Haas suffered a brain injury as a result of a stroke, Dohnányi returned to Boston to lead part of a benefit concert also featuring performances conducted by Seiji Ozawa, Pierre Boulez and Kurt Masur; his performance of Strauss’s Till Eulenspiegel was described by the Boston Globe’s Richard Dyer as ‘one of the highlights of the concert’.
