Philharmonisches Orchester der Hansestadt Lubeck, Stadthalle, October 9, 1957
Soloists: | Seemann, Carl (piano) |
- Programme:
- Bruckner: Symphony No. 3 | Strüver: Concertino for Orchestra | Mozart: Piano Concerto No. 26
The opening work in this 1957 concert given by the orchestra of Lübeck Opera and their music director, Christoph von Dohnányi, was a tribute in memory of a local composer who had died in August. Born in 1896, Paul Strüver was a composer, conductor and scholar who made an early edition of the cantatas of Alessandro Scarlatti, among others. His own compositions, including this Concertino, are accordingly neoclassical in character.
